The artworks displayed were submitted as
entries to the International Ocean Institute, Southern
Africa's Children and the Sea competition of children's
artworks on the ocean. The aims of the competition were to
raise awareness of the oceans and coasts in young people,
and through their art to increase awareness in broader
society.
The artworks shown here were selected
from almost 400 artworks submitted to the competition.
First, second and third prize were awarded, and a further
five artworks from the southern African regional competition
were selected to enter the international competition co-ordinated
by International Ocean Institute Headquarters in Malta.
Selected artworks will also be on display
over the coming months at the following times and venues:
