
Training and capacity building form the core of IOI-SA’s
functions. We offer short courses under the Ocean-Learn and
Train-Sea-Coast systems in several disciplines of marine and
coastal management. These courses include:
- Managing Marine Pollution
- Marine Invasive Species Management
- Ballast Water Management
- Planning & Conducting Port Biological Baseline Surveys
- Marine Protected Area Management
The short courses may be customized in terms of content
and/or duration to fit the needs of the target trainee
group. Such courses have been delivered in South Africa as
well as throughout the African region.

IOI-SA is currently developing an annual course on Ocean
Governance to be delivered as a 4-5 week course targeting
professionals with interests or needs in this field. Please

IOI OceanLearn
All training and capacity building activities of the
International ocean Institute network are being joined under
the brand OceanLearn, co-ordinated by the OceanLearn
Implementation Committee (OLIC), on which IOI-SA serves. The
OLIC guarantees a network-wide quality standard for all
courses run under this brand. Course packages may be bundled
to suit different requirements.
